Big Problem

I'm not a very big drinker, but our friend Ben introduced us to two friends of his...

And now, I have a problem. A big problem.

When you mix the Rum Chata with the cool root beer, you end up with a creamy concoction worthy of any milk shake (although not as thick). It's reminiscent of homemade, vanilla bean rice pudding--a dessert that I rarely make but wish I did. If you like rice pudding, that's a great thing. And even if you don't enjoy rice pudding, go ahead and try these two together. You can go with a 1:1 mixture, or if you'd rather not overdo it on the Rum Chata, then try a 1:3 mixture instead. Get ready for yumminess.

(The folks over at Rumchata.com have the real recipe--called a Root Bear Float--which can be found here.)

I would give this a try, but I cannot stand root beer... most disgusting liquid on the planet!

:). I have been experimenting. It seems only A&W has the right acidity to not react badly with the cream (so far).

Also, I am thinking, at home with friends, with ice, with a straw. For those days when you just need a drink.

Thanks for the tip, Ben!

S.B.--I wonder if another flavor soda would work. The Rum really does remind me of rice pudding, so if you like that, you could experiment with another flavor of soda. I'll try something different myself and see what happens...

You know, I'm not sure if I've ever had rice pudding... it's not exactly the kind of thing that sounds very yummy

Rice Pudding is yummy! But make sure to eat your meat first! Because how can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?
